Today’s video tutorial shows how to do something that everybody should learn. It shows how to create a dropdown menu in CSS. there’s no unnecessary styling. This video has just what you need to make the menu dropdown. I do this because I don’t know what you want to do with your web page. Everybody’s design is different.
I created this because I saw a website that had CSS menus that you could download for a cost. It seemed like a cool idea. Pay ten dollars, have your menus drop down, but the menus that they were using had some problems.
- They didn’t work in Internet Explorer 8. I have a love/hate relationship with Microsoft. They make a great operating system. They do not do anything well on the web. Therefore, they make a terrible browser. Internet Explorer 8 dies next year. That means it’s still out there. That means we need it to work. (The dropdown menu I designed works. Not well, but it does work.)
- It required adding a class to the drop down items that had a sub-menu. My menus are build dynamically through WordPress. that solution was never going to work for me.
- They had many different styles and designs. they were nice, but I just want the meat and potatoes. I don’t want to have to use your design, I want my own colors and fonts. I wanted a basic menu that I could style myself.
So enjoy the video tutorial below and, as always, thanks for watching!
