This is a basic video for navigating the windows command line. In it I explain how to move around and navigate to different folders or hard drives in Windows. This a pretty basic video for beginners. It works on almost all Windows operating systems including Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2000 and server 2003 and 2008.

This is a video about how to install Windows 7 on VirtualBox. VirtualBox is virtualization software available for Microsoft Windows, Intel Macs and Linux machines. It’s made to run on a desktop as it does not have the features required for a production environment. The good thing is that you can run it on your machine with relatively little changes to your host machine. If you are a Mac or Linux Person, you can use it to run Windows. If you are a Windows Person, you can use it to run Linux since Linux does not run well on Virtual PC. VirtualBox is available from Sun at http://VirtualBox.org

Virtual PC makes for pretty good hard drive software. It allows me to give a virtual machine a 160GB hard drive, but unless the virtual machine uses all that hard drive space, the virtual hard drive will be much smaller. It will be the size of the data stored on the virtual hard drive. However, over time you may notice “VHD creep.” This is because the VHD files are dynamically expanding but not dynamically contracting. This video shows you how to contract the virtual hard drives when the no longer need to be so large. It’ll also free up more space for more virtual machines.

This a short video about how to use a Linux distro called IPCop as a gateway for your virtual machines. I wanted to simulate a real network with a real gateway without dedicating a Gig or RAM to an ISA server. This Linux distribution runs on a 386 processor with 32 MB of Ram. The entire installation takes less than 400 MB and ten minutes. It’ll run on a real machine and can be used as a web cache, DHCP, firewall…

How to install server 2008 on virtual pc

This is a video on how to build on Virtual PC  an Ubuntu ( http://www.ubuntu.com ) LAMP server. I also use Putty ( http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/ ) to download a program called webmin ( http://www.webmin.com/ ) I would recommend checking the website for the latest version number.
